I'm a 54-year-old dude, happily married with two wonderful adult kids and the proud owner of two dogs, Penny and Suki.

 

As my wife of 29 years and I became empty nesters I have definitely experienced more hours where my wife is at work (she's both a secretary and a HS coach) and it's just me and the pups in the house.

Never one to shy away from thinking out loud, I do frequently share my life observations with these two enthusiastic listeners (of course, they are likely always thinking whatever I'm saying will end with the phrase, "do you want a treat?"). But recently I was recalling my college years when I was a journalism major, newspaper reporter and aspiring writer.

Both to rekindle an old love of writing, and to spare them my thoughts on everything from movies to sports to politics, I decided it was time to "put pen to paper" (quotation marks intended) once again. I honestly don't know if anyone beyond my immediately family will ever read these posts, but I'm excited about re-connecting with this form of self-expression.
